Fall sports

Our fall spot lineup: Marin playing volleyball, Max & Marcus playing soccer! Kyle has been helping coach Max's team, which is AWESOME. He is such a good coach, and I'm so so happy that both he and Max seem to be really enjoying doing this together.

I LOVE watching my kids play sports!! I have soccer earrings and volleyball earrings, so that's my team spirit contribution!

Fall field trips/clubs

Marcus' class walked to the local fire station. Max's class when to Chief Lelooska cultural center as part of their Native American studies. Maddie is having loads of fun in the "Girls in STEM" club where she explores different fields in the math/science world. They have women in different fields come and speak, and recently they took the kids on a field trip to the Primate Research Center that is actually located near us.

Snuggly moments

A few snuggly moments including four kids on the floor under blankets, two grand daughters surpassing their Nana in height, and a sassy 10 year old boy who is not too old for a ride on mom's reclining garden chair (it actually feels like a scary ride the way I do things)...

Thorns game

Our sweet neighbors invited Maddie to a night out to watch the Portland Thorns womens soccer team. Her friend hadn't actually been before, so Maddie showed her how the scarf cheers worked :) Go Thorns!!

Kyle's Katastrophes

Poor Kyle - he has been a regular in the ER during the past year (appendix removal awhile ago), and just recently TWO more visits. First was a kidney stone week of horror (turns out it pretty much runs in his family, so buckle up... yikes... so painful you guys)... THEN the final visit was a log throwing contest between Kyle and our neighbor Matt, and you can see who won :) Actually they were cutting down trees, and loading logs into the trailer when this happened.

Now we are just like "hi, it's us again" when we roll into St Vincent's ER. It used to be the kids that brought us there a few times a year!! I mean, our insurance deductible is maxed out, so why not?! :)

Back to School 2019

Wow, it's going to be a great year! Two boys in elementary and two girls in middle school. Maddie was feeling the butterflies as her first day of middle school approached. She did so great, even though she was pretty nervous. Having a friend meet you outside the entrance always helps :)

(her big sister started a day later...)

The poor thing also got very sick the first week of school, and it was super stressful for her missing several days of school when they are all just getting the hang of 7 periods, lockers, portables, passing time, LIFE AS A MIDDLE SCHOOLER.

All that to sat, the first couple weeks of school were sort of bananas, but such is life, this too shall pass, and onward we go!

Our new morning routine is pretty great - the boys head out first, and an hour later the girls leave for their bus... It's been cool to have some morning devotional reading/discussion time over breakfast together with both sets, catered more to their different stages in life. Plus, teenagers need more sleep!!!

The kids have awesome teachers, and I'm volunteering like crazy, as much as I can. My favorite part of the week. God bless all these teachers... You only have to spend one day in a classroom, to be in awe of how much a teacher has to manage!! So thankful I'm able to support them in a small way.
