Happy Halloween - Quarantine Style

Life is all about making lemonade out of lemons these days! As expected, trick-or-treating was a no go this year for us during Halloween. The kids were disappointed! So we decided to make the most fun home-party possible, to try and make some new memories. Activities included home-made/recycled costumes, a pumpkin carving contest, bobbing for apples (a throwback to my childhood), trick-or-treating in each others' bedrooms (each person  got to pick favorite candies to pass out), a game of Celebrity, disco ball trampoline jumping after dark, and a feast completely cooked by the kids. Honestly, it was some of the most fun we have ever had together. Nothing like being forced to get creative! I love my family!

Back to school - homeschool style!

Wow, we are doing something I never thought we would ever do... homeschool! ...ish... Enrolled all the kids in Hillsboro Online Academy (HOA) and tackling a brand new skillset for all of us this year (home teaching, home learning). A huge transition for all of us, but we have found our groove. It takes an immense amount of effort on all our part to make this successful, and I am not lost on the fact I am privileged to be a stay at home parent who can devote 100% of my time to this endeavor during this worldwide pandemic. We will all be thankful when we can go back to school (especially the new high schooler!) but for now we are striving for excellence, not perfection! I'm super proud of these kids. I am  super proud of myself. I am super proud of Kyle for putting on his "math teacher" hat in between meetings and a hectic work-from-home schedule. Team work truly is making this "dream" work :)
