A little culture

Sarah and I took our older kids out on a special date to the children's symphony & Voodoo donuts afterwards... Quite the swing in cultural experiences :) We got the whole spectrum, beautiful sights and sounds/instruments (including a typewriter!) at The Schnitz, and then at Voodo Donuts, we get underwear on the wall, being approached by strange men while in line outside, and all the fun a sugary treat provides. Fun day with the Corrigan cousins! :)

Welcome little Holland Pearl

Sommer gave birth to a sweet & darling baby girl ~ Holland Pearl ~ How perfect, two boys and two girls, of course I think that's perfect :)

Star Student Max

In preschool, you get to be the Star Student when it's your birthday (or half-birthday)... Max celebrated turning 4.5 at preschool with a special celebration poster, and as luck would have it - it was my day to volunteer and bring snacks :) Perfect timing! Max chose donut holes, oranges, orange juice and cheese sticks. It was quite the strange collection of food, but the half-birthday boy got to choose :) I loved hearing him tell his class all about his family, his life, his perspectives on life. He is hilarious, and he doesn't even know it. I adore him.

The poster says:
My favorite animal is: gorilla, cheetah, crocodile
My favorite place is: a snowy mountain
When I grow up, I want to be a: policeman
My favorite thing to do is: play with my friend Silas
If I had one wish, I would wish: to live inside a crocodile book and be a crocodile.

Star Student Marin

It was Marin's turn in 2nd grade to be Star Student! She was pretty excited to bring her soccer trophy, her new red-headed doll with fancy outfit, several pictures of the past year, and this poster that told us all about her. It's hard to read some of the entries, so I typed then out here because they are pretty cute :)

Favorite Foods: mangos, candy, ice cream cake, cake, ice cream
When I grow up, I want to be: a veterinarian, baker, farmer
If I had 3 wishes, I would wish: to be a Queen, to have all the money in the world, to be a famous baker
Things I like: drawing, fun, Out of This World, water parks, swimming, baking
Things I don't like: spiders, dark, messing up, nuts, my siblings being mean, being carsick

Donuts with Dad

Kyle took Max on a special little outing... the local donut shop ~ again I say it's the little things of life! :) Max loved it.

Beach Trip

At my parents' prompting, Kyle and I decided to get away on an overnight. They are so generous to insist on watching our kids, as it is just too easy for us to let time slip by without getting away. I bought a Groupon last fall for a little place in Cannon Beach, and we got TWO nights away on our own :) What a breath of fresh air... We had a break in typical winter beach weather - it was dry, partly sunny, BEAUTIFUL!! Kyle planned lots of special things, little gifts, notes, reservations, it was such a sweet time of just being together :) One of my favorite gifts was a funky little watch made out of safety pins. You have to see it to believe it, but it is SO my favorite and I wear it all the time. I came back feeling ready for life again!

Kyle took a picture of my footprint in the sand on the edge of this waterway... He thought it was hysterical that I ALMOST fell in. Ridic. It was a big jump, even if it doesn't look like it.
