Marin/Dad zipline adventure

Marin and her Daddy were all set up to head out on their summer overnight adventure... The original plan was hiking Eagle Creek, an overnight campout, and then finishing the trip with a special zipline tour near Astoria. Marin, however came down with some bug (we found out a WEEK LATER it was pneumonia, UGH!!!), so she was up and down for several days so we decided an overnight in the woods would be miserable for a sick kid. The day of their zipline tour, she was feeling great though, so the two of them took off for a day trip together instead. (Hopefully they will be able to squeeze in another overnight before the summer ends, but the schedule is tight!)

The had a blast ziplining together. Marin's helmet said "Wild Thing", and she continued to astonish the tour guides at her fearlessness and joy. On the last zip, you can pay extra to do the Extreme Swing, which attaches an extra long line to your harness, so you "swing" way out across the landscape below. I remember when Kyle did this (when the two of us zipped last year), and how nervous he felt before the jump! The weight requirement is over 100 lbs, so Marin was WAY below the limit, however the guides were so tickled by her enthusiasm to do it, they agreed that "if she got stuck", they would go out and get her. She had no fear, and loved every minute. She did get stuck too, making it most of the way back across the lake, but her guide did have to shimmy her back to land. Ha ha, she is such a Wild Thing! I love that kid.

On the way home, they did a dinner stop and also had an impromptu beach excursion. Love that special time they are getting together. Marin especially is really expressing how much she loves spending time with her Dad.
