Marin's last year of elementary school... (sniff sniff)... boy have I loved having all four kids in the same elementary school for one special year. It truly was magical to have all of them under one roof, it felt like all my little chickens tucked into one little nest. But, alas, chickens must fly! (Wait, I have real life chickens and they are actually terrible at flying, so I really need to shift the metaphor here to something else)
Baby birds must fly, and this girl is definitely ready to fly off to middle school. Our 6th graders at church, are treated to a very special "end of year" banquet, capping off a very important year in the life of a human being. (Side note - did you know that majority of belief systems are permanently formed by the time a person reaches 13 years old? So parents, do that important work in during these young years, because it matters)
At the banquet, I got to dress up as a waitress and serve tables (this was totally fun for me, because my food service experience is limited to McDonald's when I was 16, and I had to wear a sign that said "Please Be Patient, I'm New" for three entire months... So, all that to say, this was much more fun, and I didn't drop a single plate).
The families were invited at the end, and got to watch the special slideshow together, and pray for their child! Marin picked out her own new outfit, and just graced through the evening like the young lady she is. I love her so much, and I LOVE being her mom.
The end of the school year, also brought many special moments, celebrations, goodbyes to favorite teachers and lots of nostalgia. One of the major highlights of this year was her amazing friend group. You cannot underestimate the power of solid friends to get through your growing up years. I truly love each one of these awesome kids!
She also learned how to play poker this spring... (clearly Dad taught her too well, because she cleaned up)
Marin's spring violin recital - so bittersweet as her new teacher announced she was moving to Idaho! We wish her the best, but will really miss her influence.
My little creative sweetheart :)
