Marcus and his rough summer

We really worked to make the best of it, but this little caboose of the family had a rough summer. What we know now (which took months of struggle to determine) was that Marcus got a stomach virus right near the end of school in June. He was very sick, and then recovered. But... for the next several months, he was basically just not well. The doctors believe the virus basically did a number on his GI system, and threw it into complete disarray. The details are numerous, and I won't worry about them now, but he was at the pediatrician multiple times, urgent care, the hospital and even the ER at one point. Up and down, all summer long and it truly is miraculous that he could have any happy memories from this difficult time (he did though, pictures to prove it in all the other summer posts!). His spirits really took a dive, because there is nothing this little extrovert loves more than adventure and new experiences, and the chronic pain and sickness made him very, very sad. MY BABY!!! Ugh... So here we are, over four months later, and he is finally doing so much better. I'm not sure why I felt compelled to write a blog post about this, other than this was the hardest season of his young life, and it deserves to be honored. He felt like it was never going to end, and I think that was the hardest part. Thank you Lord for making it end!!
